As a fundraising event, nothing can compete with running with thousands of people, many in fancy dress, raising money for great causes. Our 2021 ballot places are full but if you have your own place we would love you to be part of #TeamLOROS
On February 13th 2020, London Marathon Events announced the postponement of the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon, which was scheduled to take place on Sunday 26th April. After a further cancellation in October, the 40th Race is now scheduled to take place on Sunday 3rd October 2021.
We are delighted to say that we were inundated with applications for the 2020 marathon and we have carried those forward to the 2021 event. Unfortunately, this means we have already closed the ballot applications.
If you apply and receive your own place and would like to run for #TeammLOROS, please let us know. As an own place runner, you will receive the same support from our events team as those with a charity place, but without a sponsorship target to meet.
Join #TeamLOROS and have a go at running one of the world’s most prestigious marathons on closed roads through the heart of London.
The London Marathon is one of the most desirable running events in the world. Approximately 35,000 runners get the privilege of bounding stride after stride through street after street of the magnificent and iconic capital of England.
Whatever your vision for 2021, with our support and the support of other LOROS runners we’ll have you crossing that line in October. Whether it’s your first marathon or you’re a seasoned pro we’ll have thousands of people screaming your name as the crowd lined streets create an atmosphere to rival that of any sporting event on the planet.
When fundraising, we ask all our runners to aim for the sky but the minimum amount of sponsorship required to gain a place with us is £1,650.
Our ballot places are now closed but you can still apply for your own place in the public ballot and support LOROS without a specific fundraising target.
You are not alone! You’ll have a dedicated contact here at LOROS, and the support of others who are running for team LOROS.
We will offer guidance through your training and preparation via training plans, training runs and advise forums and you will be provided with a sought after LOROS running vest!
When it comes to fundraising, we can support you too. We’ll loan you equipment and suggest ideas for topping up those pots!
What we can achieve
Through your valuable and much-needed support, we can affect the lives of others in their time of need. Previous marathons have enabled us to do amazing things here at the hospice - let’s make the London Marathon 2021 an even bigger success.
With your help, funds raised via the 2021 London Marathon team could enable us to run our day therapy service for more than two weeks, supporting over 200 people.
Your donations alone could pay for a specialist nurse for over two weeks at LOROS. Go for it!
