The Elephants' Big Day Out- Farewell Weekend

Join us at LOROS Hospice for a free, family fun day – and this year, it’s extra special, because the Elephants are coming! 

In a very special Big Day Out mashup, you’ll also have the very last chance to say farewell to the 40 giant Elephants and 82 Baby Elephants from the Stomp Round Leicester trail, all gathered together for one final time. 

As well as the amazing sculptures, enjoy a variety of exciting outdoor activities, delicious food and craft stalls, carnival games and plenty more. Our face painters will use their talents to transform you into a beautiful butterfly or bedazzle yourself with a glitter temporary tattoo! 

There will also be an opportunity to grab some official Stomp Round Leicester merchandise as well as meet some of the artists who designed the incredible sculptures. 

The Big Day Out is also an opportunity to learn more about how we care for patients and their families here at LOROS.

We’re really looking forward to bringing the herd to LOROS! It’s an opportunity to share the beautiful sculptures with patients and their families, and to spark conversations about hospice care with others. Many of the Elephants reflect the services we offer – you might be surprised to learn that we run mindfulness sessions for our patients, or that we employ a specialised children’s counsellor, or that we push patients’ beds out into our gardens so they can feel the sun and hear the birds? Come along to learn more! 

Getting here 

This event will take place at our Hospice grounds on Groby Road but please note there is no parking available onsite at the Hospice. 

For those requiring car parking, we have arranged the use of County Hall Car Park, Glenfield, LE3 8HD. For an overflow car park please use Gilroes Car Park next to Gilroes cemetery, LE3 9QG, just a short five minute walk from the Hospice for a donation to LOROS. This will be well signposted, and staff will be there on the day to help you find your way to the Hospice. A shuttle bus will also be available from those car parks for those who are less mobile. Buses also run every 10 minutes along Groby Road. 

Cost 

Entry to the Big Day Out is FREE 
Elephant exhibition: 

• £5 per person (adults and children above 3) 

• £16 for a family ticket (2 adults and 2 children)
