The LOROS Golden Ticket Ball proved to be a golden opportunity for LOROS as the Fundraising Department have today announced that it has been their most successful Ball to date.

A sell-out crowd of 300 guests helped to raise over £30,000 at the event held on Saturday 8th November at The Marriott, Grove Park. This amazing total could, as an example, fund five weeks of day therapy at the Hospice, providing high quality holistic care and support for people living with a terminal illness in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

The Willy Wonka themed event allowed for The Marriot to be completely transformed into an incredible chocolate factory, complete with 6ft lollipops, candy cane stilt walkers, a chocolate fondue and even performing oompa loompa’s! Guests were treated to a stunning performance by Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists Kieran and Sarah who performed the iconic song from Willy Wonka, “Pure Imagination” along with students from Brightlights Theatre School.

The success of this year’s Ball was not only down to the generosity of the guests in attendance but also due to the substantial amount of support LOROS received from local companies in preparation for the event.

Laura Betts, Event Organiser at LOROS said; “This event would not have been half as successful as it was without all of the support we have received. We’ve had everything from candy canes to stage draping donated and we are so thankful to all of the companies who have spared not just materials but also their valuable time; I hope that they are as delighted as we are with the total raised and that we can work together again on future events!”

Jeanette Cooper-Hudson, Charities and Sponsorship Manager at Next who provided sponsorship for the event said; We are always proud to support and work in partnership with LOROS. We are so pleased that, with our support, they have been able to go on and raise this fantastic amount of money which will help them to continue caring for around 2,500 local people every year.”
