“When you walk through the doors to LOROS Hospice, there’s just a calm atmosphere. I can’t describe it. It’s just something very special. Nothing’s too much hassle for anybody. LOROS is there from the moment you need it.”

Angie’s lovely Grandmother would regularly fundraise for LOROS and more recently Angie’s aunt spent time on the ward.

“I’ve always felt a strong family connection to the Hospice. I want to carry on the legacy and support LOROS so that they can continue to do incredible things.

“When my daughter was younger, we took part in LOROS’ sponsored dog walk, Paws 4 a Cause. The funny thing is that we didn’t have a dog, my daughter dressed in a husky onesie! After that, she wanted to take part in the Tower Run in 2017.

“As she was 13, she needed adult supervision. So, off I went up the tower! She left me on floor 3 or 4 and I eventually finished 6 minutes behind her. The following year, I bowed out but when I saw the 2018 medal, that’s when I decided, ‘I want one of those!’. I’ve taken part in LOROS’ Tower Run every year since.”

Angie works as a carer in the community for Home Straight, providing personal care and support to people that need it across Rutland and Melton.

“Last year, I recruited 4 carers from Home Straight to join me on the Tower Run. We were all various age groups and were cheering each other on shouting ‘we can do it, we can do it!’. We had the best time.

“For 2022, there will be 8 of us taking to the tower, including Home Straight’s directors! I’m very excited.

“I’m hoping for a personal best and have been training on my treadmill at home. I’m so pleased that Home Straight are doing this together, it’s going to be wonderful.

“Raising funds and supporting LOROS is what motivates me. LOROS care for our loved ones when we no longer can. It’s just amazing.”

Thank you to Angie and Home Straight for taking on the tower! We cannot wait to see you at the top on Saturday 26th March x
