Join the LOROS Walking Group

From weekly local walks, to walking trips away, the LOROS Walking Group are a friendly bunch with suitable trips for all ages and abilities, all whilst raising money to support the Hospice. And importantly, their walks always involve a tea, coffee and cake stop!

The Great Glen Way (Fort William to Inverness 78 miles) - FULLY BOOKED

18th - 26th April

The Rutland Round (65 miles over 5 days)

8th-12th July

The Yorkshire Wolds Way (79 miles from Hessle to Filey)

Package includes accomodation, minibus, support and fuel and group self catered food

19th-25th September

Ketan's Kinder Challenge

Day Trip to Peak District. Circular route around Kinder Scout approx 14 miles.

Sunday 28th June.

The Malvern Hills (Day trip TBC)

Day trip to Malvern, includes 11 hills.

Walk to the Mammoth (Family walk on Watermead Park) Full details to follow.

LOROS training walks


In addition to the longer treks, the LOROS walking group organises regular day walks both in and around Leicestershire, as well as slightly further afield in some beautiful locations such as Dovedale or the Malvern Hills. The group are also currently exploring the Leicestershire Trig Point Pillars. All are welcome to join and the group operates a mailing list via email for anyone wanting to be kept up to date with upcoming walks.

All walks will be 8-10 miles and 9am-1pm unless stated.

March 2026

Saturday 21st- 8.15am for a 8.30am start.

Venue - parking at rear of Green Acres, Gaddesby Lane, Frisby On The Wreake, Melton, LE14 2PA. Includes visit to see the Stomp Elephant, Elenaut, and the Rocket, Major Tom. Coffee and cake by Lyn Hastings. 

Sunday 29th- 8.15am for 8.30am start.

Start at Queens Head Pub, Markfield, LE67 9UB. Leicstershire 6 Peaks Trek. Approximately 17 miles. An all day walk. Led by Mark Gerraghty.

We are still seeking a new minibus driver for the 2026 treks, please let us know if you are interested in helping. In the short-term it will be Adrian Walker. You need to have Category D1 on your licence. Please pass this information on to anyone who may be interested.

Please note: All walkers will need to wear appropriate walking clothes for the weather and walking boots. Please bring food and drink to last the duration of the walk.
