2025 walking trips
St Cuthbert’s Way
8th – 15th June
A 62-mile walk from Melrose in the Scottish Borders to Lindisfarne, Holy Island, in Northumberland. The budget cost for this trek, including accommodation, food, transport and fuel, is likely to be approximately £450 per person with walkers being asked to fundraise at least £250 for LOROS.
National Forest Way
20th – 25th June
A 75-mile walk from Beacon Hill, Leicestershire to the National Arboretum in Staffordshire. Daily walkers will be able to drive to each finish point and will be taken by minibus to the daily starting point, thereby walking back to their cars or chosen transport. Costs will depend on the number of participants but is likely to be around £15 per person per day with some fundraising for LOROS.
Other 2025 walks are still to be confirmed, likely to be taking place in September and October.
Day walks
In addition to the longer treks, the LOROS walking group organises regular day walks both in and around Leicestershire, as well as slightly further afield in some beautiful locations such as Dovedale or the Malvern Hills. The group are also currently exploring the Leicestershire Trig Point Pillars. All are welcome to join and the group operates a mailing list via email for anyone wanting to be kept up to date with upcoming walks. 26th January 9am-1pm The Outwoods car park, Woodhouse Lane, Woodhouse Eaves, LE11 3YG (Parking costs apply)
2nd February 9am-1pm The Manor Pub, Glen Parva, LE2 9TL
9th February 9am-1pm The Village Green, Great Glen, LE8 9GF (opposite Italian Greyhound pub).
16th February 9am-1pm Woodhouse Eaves Village Hall carpark, LE12 8RZ
22nd February 9am-1pm Old Melton Road, Tilton on the Hill, LE7 9LG
Please note: all walks will be between 8 and 10 miles. All walkers will need to wear appropriate walking clothes for the weather and walking boots. Please bring food and drink to last the duration of the walk.
