I’m walking Twilight to celebrate my superheroes – the patients I work with

A support worker at LOROS Hospice is taking on the Twilight Walk to raise money for the patients she works with.

Celia Davis is the creative coordinator at LOROS and works with patients to help them engage with art therapy. Now she is turning her hand to fundraising in support of their needs.

Celia said: “This year’s Twilight Walk is all about celebrating your superhero. My superheroes are the patients. I see them arrive at LOROS, anxious and worried, but with the care and support of our doctors and nurses, they relax and find themselves again.”

The LOROS Twilight Walk is an annual 10k walk through the city which celebrates anyone who has lost someone they love. This year it is taking place on 29th June, with the walk kicking off from the King Power and taking a route through the sites of the city.

In her role at the Hospice, Celia sees the bravery of people living with incurable disease on a daily basis.

She added: “Every day I see patients who are facing the worst time of their lives, but doing it with such courage. It’s a privilege to support them and help put a smile on their face. When I walk 10k in June I will be raising money so LOROS can continue to care for people who need it most.

“I’d like to invite everyone to walk with me and celebrate their heroes.”

Now in its fourteenth year, the Twilight Walk brings the people of Leicestershire together in solidarity to remember their loved ones and raise money for their local Hospice. Together over the past five years, LOROS Twilight Walkers have raised an incredible £500,000 for the charity. This year, like the past five, LOROS is welcoming Dunelm as the event’s main sponsor.
