CEO of wealth management firm Mattioli Woods, Ian Mattioli MBE, is supporting a beautiful new sculpture, the LOROS Tree of Life

A generous donation from the Mattioli Trust enabled the unique art work, designed and built by artist Jason Sweeney, to be commissioned. The bespoke sculpture is now installed in the hospice grounds.

The sculpture comprises 1,500 hand-crafted leaves which can be purchased and engraved with names, dates and important messages about loved ones. Each leaf sold will help fund LOROS’s care for patients and their families. With the hospice sector struggling for funds, the Tree is an innovative way of bringing in much needed cash.

Ian Mattioli said: “LOROS is such a joyous and fabulous place.  So many Leicestershire families need to use the great resources that LOROS have when all our families are in their greatest need.

“The Tree of Life is a long-term, sustainable, visual acknowledgment of all the people, their families and supporters, who wish to celebrate the work that LOROS does day in, day out.

“We are so pleased with the outcome of Jason’s creativity and I hope the people of Leicestershire, when they visit the tree, will firstly enjoy its presence, and as a result sponsor a leaf to acknowledge all the work of LOROS and the people it helps and serves.”

Leaves can be been used to recognise local heroes in the community, to commemorate and pay tribute to the life of a loved one, or to celebrate a milestone.

It’s also a unique and poignant way to celebrate weddings, anniversaries, christenings, birthdays, retirement and much more.

Laura Betts, Fundraising Manager at LOROS, said: “Thanks to the donation from the Mattioli Charitable Trust, our Tree of Life is not only a beautiful addition to our tranquil Hospice gardens, it’s a way for us to secure ongoing investment into our services, through the sale of leaves.

“Like most hospices, we’re reliant on our supporters to fund our care for patients and their families. The Tree helps ensure we can be here for future generations when they need us the most.”

Leaves can be ordered via the LOROS website at loros.co.uk/TreeofLife or by calling the Supporter Care team on 0116 231 8431.
