Calling all artists both amateur and professional!
LOROS Hospice is calling on talented local and regional artists to submit designs to transform 40 Elephant sculptures into beautiful works of art for display in the Stomp Round Leicester art trail which will be coming to the city in summer 2025.
Artists of all kinds from painters, designers and illustrators to hobbyists, are all invited to let their imaginations run wild and create inspiring, engaging designs in any art form they wish, from fine art, graffiti to mosaic, to decorate the mammoth sculptures.
Stomp Round Leicester will be the biggest public art event Leicester has ever seen and is being brought to the city by LOROS Hospice and Wild in Art, in celebration of the hospice’s 40th anniversary. At the end of the 10 week trail the 40 Elephant sculptures will be auctioned, with the proceeds going to fund LOROS’s care for patients and families.
Emma Jones, who is leading the art programme for LOROS, said: “We’re delighted to announce that we’re now taking submissions for the design of our Elephant sculptures, and would like to call on the whole of the artist community to get involved!
“Anyone who remembers 2021’s Rocket Round Leicester will recall the incredible artwork which really brought the sculptures to life, and how involved the general public got in the trail with huge numbers of visitors. So if you’d like your art work to be seen by thousands, do send in a design!
Designs must be submitted by 20th November 2024 and, following a shortlisting process, successful artists will be announced in January 2025. Artists whose designs are selected will be paid a commission for their work.
LOROS Hospice is holding an Artist Information Event on Friday 20th September, 3-6pm where you can find out more about this mammoth opportunity or visit //stomproundleicester.co.uk/artists for further details.
