A rare Roland JP-8000 synthesiser, owned and used by Martyn Ware of The Human League and Heaven 17, has been generously donated to LOROS’ Spiral Scratch shop on Queens Road by actor and musician Graham Fellows of Jilted John / John Shuttleworth fame.

This extra-ordinary piece was used by Heaven 17 both live and on their album Bigger Than America, along with artists including Urban Cookie Collective, Deepika and David J Roach, and many others.

Personally signed by Martyn Ware in gold marker, its history has also been verified by Ware.

It comes complete with the heavy-duty SKB flight case used on tour with Heaven 17 making it the perfect memorabilia for any fan.

The synthesiser is now available on eBay, with proceeds going towards LOROS Hospice, helping raise vital funds for terminally ill patients and their families across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Matt Gale, Store Manager at Spiral Scratch said: "Graham is a friend of the shop and has generously donated musical instruments previously, but this one blew us away!

It's a fantastic synthesiser in its own right, but with the provenance of having been owned by Martyn and used on original Heaven 17 recordings, that takes it to the next level! We couldn't be happier and hopefully it will raise a good deal of money for our wonderful charity.”
