Matthew, Jonathan and Robert Hartley ran the Barcelona Marathon on 10th March 2024 raising money for LOROS Hospice.

At just 10, 8 and 6 years old, the brothers' mum died after being cared for on the inpatient ward at LOROS. The brothers wanted to fundraise for LOROS to raise awareness and to support in giving other families the care and opportunities they received.

Matthew said: "Despite our last memories of Mum being at LOROS, we remember them fondly. Eventhough we were so young, it never felt like a hospital, everyone had a smile on their face. They couldn't have taken better of my mum."

In order to fundraise for LOROS, the brothers decided to run the Barcelona Marathon in memory of their mum who Matthew described as: "incredibly altruistic and loved marathons and adventures herself".

The brothers have raised a fantastic £1000 for LOROS. Matthew reflected: "Unfortunately my knee seized up at 16 miles. I was unsure if I could physically make the end. I sat down to breathe through the pain and told myself there was no way I wasn't going to finish and to think of everyone I was doing it for."

A huge well done to the Hartley brothers!
