For more than 22 years, Juliette has been a loyal supporter of LOROS, after the hospice had cared for her mum and, more recently, a dear friend and their family. Inspired by the exceptional compassion shown, she set herself an ambitious goal: to raise £500 for LOROS by cycling the 100-mile Devon Coast to Coast route from Ilfracombe to Plymouth in September 2025.
At the fabulous age of 60, and not having taken on a challenge like this for nearly 40 years, Juliette saddled up alongside her friend Frankie, who guided her through training and shared every mile of the journey. Setting off from Ilfracombe, they faced tough conditions, including torrential rain, cloudbursts, and flash floods. But with determination—and the thought of the difference LOROS makes to families—they pushed on. When the sun finally broke through as they cycled into Plymouth, the sense of achievement was unforgettable.
What began as a hope to raise £500 quickly grew beyond all expectations. Thanks to the encouragement of friends, family, and supporters, Juliette’s fundraising has tipped over £2,000—four times her original target.
Reflecting on the journey, her friend Maggie shared:
"Lots of things made this challenge important and special, but most important is LOROS. We know and understand how vital your work is and we have enormous respect and gratitude for all the support and encouragement you have provided for Jules."
Juliette’s ride wasn’t just about miles on the road—it was about honouring loved ones, giving back to a charity close to her heart, and proving that at any age, with courage and friends by your side, incredible things are possible.
Thank you so much for your incredible fundraising!
