We recently spoke with members of the club who shared the story behind The Round Woody — a competition created in memory of Richard, whose dedication and kindness meant so much to everyone around him.
What began as a simple idea between friends quickly became a powerful tribute. The competition was designed so everyone could take part, regardless of discipline, with all proceeds donated to LOROS. As the event grew, so did the generosity — from outstanding scores on the range to donations from those who simply wanted to support the cause.
Even as Richard’s health declined, he was kept closely involved and took great pride in seeing the impact the competition was having. The support from the club and wider community was truly inspiring.
On presentation night, we were honoured to receive a cheque for £2,184, raised in Richard’s memory. We are incredibly grateful to everyone involved for choosing to support LOROS and for turning such a personal loss into something that will help so many others.
Thank you for sharing Richard’s story with us and for helping LOROS continue to care for patients and families when they need us most.
