In Memory, In Gratitude, In Action

The Geography students at Loughborough University came together with a shared purpose: to honour the memory of their much-loved lecturer, Jo, while supporting the incredible care provided by LOROS.

After Jo sadly passed away in October, students wanted to recognise the compassion and support she received as a patient of LOROS. As Scarlett, one of the students involved, shared:

“We chose to donate to LOROS in memory of one of our lecturers Jo, who sadly passed in October. She was a patient of LOROS, and we decided to honour her by dedicating a charity event to the organisation, to help continue the work that goes on there.”

On Friday 6th February, that tribute became reality. Over 60 participants — around 30 staff and 30 students — took part in a charity event filled with energy, teamwork and community spirit. Together, they raised an incredible £152.

More than just a fundraiser, the event was a reflection of Jo’s lasting impact — bringing people together, just as she did in her teaching.

And the generosity doesn’t stop there. Following the success of the event, students are now planning a bake sale to continue raising funds for LOROS and to keep Jo’s memory alive through positive action.

We are so grateful to everyone who took part, donated, and supported this heartfelt initiative. Your kindness ensures that LOROS can continue providing vital care and comfort to others who need it most.
