We would like to say a huge thank you to Jon, an incredible supporter who has gone above and beyond to raise funds for LOROS, achieving an amazing total of £3,732 across two remarkable challenges.
Jon’s journey with LOROS began back in 2023, when he took on the London Marathon alongside a friend whose family had experienced the care and compassion of our hospice first-hand. Inspired by the dedication of our nursing team, Jon shared how running the marathon gave him a real sense of purpose, knowing the funds raised were supporting such a meaningful cause.
Sadly, just a year later, Jon’s own family experienced the support of LOROS during a deeply personal and difficult time, following his mum’s battle with pancreatic cancer. Despite the heartbreak, Jon has shared how the care, compassion, and support provided by LOROS made it possible to create special memories together—something that will stay with him forever.
Determined to give back, Jon once again took to the start line of the London Marathon, securing a public ballot place and proudly running in support of LOROS. With his mum and aunties’ names on his back, and supported by family and friends along the route, he raised an incredible £650.
But Jon didn’t stop there. Just two weeks later, he took on the Samworth Charity Challenge in Castleton, held in the Peak District. As part of a team of four, Jon tackled a demanding 10-hour endurance event involving hiking, mountain biking, and kayaking while navigating checkpoints across challenging terrain.
Despite the event not going entirely to plan, the team achieved something truly remarkable—raising an outstanding £3,082, with fantastic support from family, friends, and colleagues at Walker & Son.
Combined, these two challenges have raised a phenomenal £3,732 to support LOROS and the vital care we provide.
We’re also delighted to share that Walker & Son have chosen LOROS as their Charity of the Year, showing their wider commitment to supporting our work. With their continued support, we look forward to raising even more together in the months ahead.
