On Saturday 9th May 2026, our incredible supporter Tina McBrien hosted a fantastic fundraising gala in aid of LOROS, bringing together family, friends and the local community for a memorable day of fundraising and celebration.
The day began with a spectacular motorbike ride-out, organised by Rideout Leicester, which started at Stanton Lakes and finished at Leicestershire County Cricket Ground. Guests then enjoyed a packed programme of entertainment and activities throughout the day, with something for everyone to enjoy.
Live music from Leicester band Beats Workin kept the atmosphere buzzing, while a huge raffle featured generous prizes donated by Porsche, Leicestershire County Cricket Club, Leicester City Football Club, Leicester Riders and many other local supporters.
The event also welcomed Leicestershire Police, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and Andy's Man Club, who were on hand to offer advice and support for men in crisis. Visitors enjoyed browsing a variety of stalls, including Monica's Suame Beads from Leicester Haymarket Shopping Centre, while local favourite Dilip Patel, better known as the Fireball Man, also came along to show his support.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, an incredible £1,614 was raised to support the specialist care provided by LOROS.
The event was held in loving memory of Tina's late father, David Leader, who sadly died from stomach cancer in 2019, and in honour of everyone who has lost a loved one to cancer. Through her fundraising, Tina has created a wonderful way to celebrate her father's memory while helping ensure other families receive the compassionate care and support they need during some of life's most difficult moments.
A special thank you also goes to Joao Rapso Photography for beautifully capturing the day and the wonderful atmosphere throughout the event.
Tina's passion, determination and commitment to supporting LOROS shone through every aspect of the event. From bringing together local businesses, community groups and volunteers to creating such a welcoming and enjoyable day for everyone, she did an outstanding job. Her enthusiasm and dedication inspired so many people to get involved, helping to make the day an incredible success.
From everyone at LOROS, we would like to say a huge thank you to Tina for her unwavering support and for organising such a fantastic event. We'd also like to thank her family and friends, Rideout Leicester, Beats Workin, Leicestershire Police, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, Andy's Man Club, every volunteer, stallholder, prize donor and everyone who attended or supported the event. Together, you have made a real difference, and every pound raised will help us continue providing free, compassionate care and support to terminally ill patients and their families across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
