A much-loved annual Sports Day at Daisy Chain Nursery has helped raise an incredible £500 for LOROS Hospice, bringing together families, staff and supporters for a day filled with fun, laughter and community spirit.
The nursery's Sports Day is one of the highlights of the year, welcoming parents, grandparents, friends and family to cheer on competitors of all ages. From children's races to parent challenges and even a popular dog race, the event is known for creating lasting memories and bringing the Daisy Chain community together.
This year, organisers added a charitable element to the parents' 50-metre sprint, with the winner receiving £100 to donate to a charity of their choice. Race winner Rio Hause selected LOROS, a cause that holds a special place in his family's heart.
Inspired by Rio's choice and their own close connection to the hospice, Daisy Chain Nursery decided to increase the donation to an amazing £500.
LOROS is a charity that means a great deal to the Daisy Chain family. Over the years, the nursery has built a wonderful relationship with the hospice, from visiting the LOROS Polytunnel Garden to participating in fundraising activities. The connection is also deeply personal. For Daisy Chain's owners, Amanda and Jade, LOROS provided compassionate care and support for their mum and grandmother, Bev, during her final days.
The team said the kindness, love and care shown to Bev and their family will never be forgotten, making LOROS a particularly meaningful beneficiary of this year's fundraising efforts.
The donation is a wonderful example of how local communities can come together to support hospice care across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
