Joe Norton took on an extraordinary challenge, running 52.02km from Leicestershire County Cricket Club to Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club in memory of his dad, Richard. Completing the distance in an impressive 6 hours, 1 minute and 44 seconds, Joe showed remarkable determination, resilience and strength throughout the day.
The challenge was a deeply personal one for Joe, who wanted to honour his father's memory while giving back to the hospice that cared for him and supported his family.
Setting off from Grace Road on Sunday 13 September, Joe was joined by five fellow runners and supported along the way by family and friends. His route took him past some of the region's most recognisable landmarks, including the King Power Stadium and Abbey Park, before winding through villages across Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire and finishing at the iconic Trent Bridge.
The route was carefully chosen to honour Joe's late father, Richard, who shared a lifelong love of sport with his son. Together, they enjoyed many trips to watch cricket at both Grace Road and Trent Bridge, making the challenge a fitting and deeply personal tribute.
Thanks to the generosity of friends, family and supporters, Joe's fundraising total has now exceeded £2,600, helping LOROS continue to provide free, compassionate care and support to patients and their loved ones across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
From all of us at LOROS, thank you, Joe. Your dedication, courage and generosity are truly inspiring, and we are incredibly grateful for your support.
