The wonderful community at Leicestershire Craft Centre came together for a unique fundraising challenge, raising an incredible £1,197.05 for LOROS Hospice while creating handmade items that will directly support patients and their families.
Over the course of a 12 hour Sew-a-thon, 50 talented sewists dedicated their time, skills and creativity to produce 125 handmade property bags and syringe driver bags. These practical items are used throughout LOROS and provide comfort and support to patients and loved ones during difficult times.
The event, hosted by Leicestershire Craft Centre, brought together people from across the community who shared a passion for sewing and a desire to make a difference. The atmosphere throughout the day was filled with generosity, teamwork and friendship, as volunteers worked side by side creating bags with care and compassion.
Katharine from Leicestershire Craft Centre said:
"It was a fantastic atmosphere. Everyone was so generous with their time, donations and efforts in making the bags. Whether they made one or ten during their session, they were made with love and care.
"When I was setting up the event, I discovered so many people have had friends or family members at LOROS. It is a very special place to them."
The day was such a success that many participants are already looking ahead to next year's event, with several keen to get involved again and support LOROS through their crafting skills.
A huge thank you to Leicestershire Craft Centre, everyone who sewed, donated materials, volunteered their time and supported the Sew-a-thon. Not only did they raise vital funds for LOROS, but they also created items that will make a real difference to the patients and families we care for every day.
