Remember Me

Elephants never forget, and neither do we

Happy memories help us cherish the time we have with loved ones and provide comfort in recollections after they have gone.

Remember Me is the work of local artist Anna Shutt, who was inspired by looking through photograph albums of much-loved relatives. Utilising the iconic Polaroid, the sculpture is strewn with photo frames just like the bedroom floor when we’re sifting through our favourite pics. Each frame preserves a name of a loved one, accompanied by forget me nots, robins and butterflies.

Remember Me is a wonderful canvas to engrave the name of someone special to you. For a small fee, artist Anna will add your loved one’s name to her beautiful design, where it will be immortalised on this special artwork forever.

As names are added, the artwork becomes a beautiful commemoration to all the special people we miss. The elephant is a noble herd animal which live in intergenerational family groups, headed by a matriarch, and actually grieve when a member of their herd dies. They reflect many of our own values, and are therefore the perfect place to remember our own loved ones.

Remember Me is one of the 40 giant Elephants which form LOROS Hospice’s Stomp Round Leicester art trail which launches on 14th July. Come and visit it in the This + That by LOROS store on High Street, Leicester LE1 5YN.

At the end of the ten week trail, Remember Me will find its forever home where it will remain accessible to everyone who would like to visit it.
