Recently colleagues from across LOROS came together to create a truly memorable birthday for one of our inpatients, Stephen, helping him celebrate his 61st birthday surrounded by the people and the pastime he loves most.
Knowing Stephen's lifelong passion for golf, our Social Work and Inpatient Ward teams arranged for Original Tee, a portable crazy golf company, to transform part of our car park into a mini golf course. Joined by his family and best friend, Stephen enjoyed a wonderful afternoon celebrating his birthday.
The celebrations didn't stop there. On his birthday, colleagues also organised a party in the social area with a buffet for Stephen and his family and the chance for him to spend time outdoors enjoying the sunshine.
Stephen's family shared how much these thoughtful gestures meant to them, describing the care they have all received since arriving at LOROS as feeling "like having big arms wrapped around you."
A huge thank you to everyone involved in making Stephen's birthday so special. From the Social Work and Inpatient Ward teams who brought the idea to life, the catering team for supporting with the party to everyone who helped with the celebrations behind the scenes, your kindness and teamwork created lasting memories for Stephen and his family.
Moments like these are a wonderful reminder that the care we provide goes far beyond clinical support – it's about helping people continue to enjoy the things they love and creating meaningful moments when they matter most.
