Pretty's story

We saw this post from Leicestershire NHS Partnership Trust and wanted to share it, as it’s such a lovely and inspiring story.

Pretty Manyimo’s journey – from starting her NHS career as a hospital cleaner to being awarded the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse – is a powerful reminder of what dedication, compassion and perseverance can achieve. Inspired by the nurses around her, Pretty went on to qualify in 2012 and now specialises in end of life care.

Pretty works within the Integrated Specialist Palliative Care Team, a partnership between Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust and LOROS Hospice, supporting people and families at some of the most important moments of their lives.

Alongside her clinical work, Pretty is passionate about improving end of life care for marginalised communities through research, sharing her learning nationally and internationally.

Mia Jeffrey, Specialist Palliative Care Nurse Lead at LOROS, said:

“Pretty is an absolute inspiration to nursing. Her dedication to patients and her innovative research is second to none. She is incredibly generous with her time, teaching and supporting the whole team, and the impact of her work is already being felt across the nursing world.”

Her story highlights not only the excellence of nursing care in our community, but also the strength and impact of partnership working – bringing together skills, experience and compassion to deliver the very best care.

We’re incredibly proud to work alongside colleagues like Pretty.
