Camilla had a lovely chat with Ben Jackson on BBC Leicester last week about volunteering. It was part of a panel discussion for Volunteers Week with several other wonderful charities, on the amazing worth of volunteers.
At LOROS we are so lucky to have 1,300 volunteers supporting us across a huge range of areas and they are the heart of our hospice.
The discussion was quite emotional and prompted presenter Ben to talk about his experience of LOROS when his mother in law was cared for on the ward. He said: “You go into LOROS and you think it’s going to be gloomy, dour, grey place and it’s the utter opposite to that. There is a joy there and a gentleness there and the way the volunteers and the staff interact with very poorly patients is beautiful.”
What a truly inspiring, uplifting conversation!
