When Dr Cassy decided she wanted to do something to support LOROS, she knew a bake sale wasn’t going to be the answer.
As Cassy said: “I can’t bake cakes to raise money, but I can sew!”
Cassy teamed up with Leicestershire Craft Centre to bring her idea to life, and the response was fantastic. Over the course of 12 hours, 50 sewists gave their time and skills to create an amazing 125 handmade property bags and syringe driver bags for our patients and families.
And as well as creating something practical that can be used in our care, the day raised an incredible £1,065 for LOROS.
Cassy said: “I thought, why not harness this form of creativity for LOROS by making something useful as well as having fun? The act of collaborating to create something useful like the syringe driver bags and property bags really resonated with all who gave their time. I feel really proud the day was such a huge success.”
It’s a lovely example of how our colleagues’ ideas, interests and talents outside of work can make a real difference to LOROS too.
