After spending a few days on our inpatient ward, Caz and her family decided they wanted to celebrate Christmas early and enjoy that special time together. When our nurses heard about their plans, they immediately got to work to make it happen.
Within a day, Caz’s room had been transformed for Christmas, complete with decorations, presents and crackers. Our team also arranged a Christmas dinner so Caz could celebrate properly with her partner Jon, her mum and her brother – just as the family always had.
Jon said: “It was amazing. We thought we'd have to bring decorations in ourselves but they sorted everything, we couldn't have asked for more. We'd always heard good things about LOROS and it's been a relief that Caz is being cared for so well here. It has taken the stress away from our family and doing things like an early Christmas wouldn't be possible without LOROS.”
And Caz’s review of her time with us? “It’s the best hotel I’ve stayed at!”
It’s a lovely example of what hospice care means beyond managing symptoms and providing expert clinical care. It’s about recognising what matters to each individual patient, supporting the people closest to them and, whenever we can, helping families create precious memories together.
A huge thank you to our inpatient ward colleagues who pulled everything together at such short notice and made Caz and her family’s early Christmas possible.
