The LOROS Accumulator Challenge Launch Event

The Accumulator Challenge is an initiative which raises money for LOROS, the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Hospice.

The idea of the challenge is very simple: a group or team of people from an organisation are given a £50 note and during a three-month period they work together to 'grow' the money in any way they can (as long as it is legal and ethical!). The only condition is that the teams should at least double the stake amount.

This year’s Accumulator Challenge involves 27 teams (including ones from: 2xl Commercial, Affinity Asset Finance, British Gas, C.E.S. Ceramic Tiling, English Martyrs School, Forever Living, Gateley, Latin Fitness Camp, LOROS, Mariposa Style, MoJo Promotions, Palmers Garden Centre, Pedestrian, Positive Vibrations Event Management, Pure & Blessed Tarot, RBS, Specsavers Leicester, the City of Leicester College, the Plant Man and William Bradford Community College).

They are going to battle against each other in a bid to win awards for Most Money Raised and Most Innovative Idea. This will be announced when the money is collected after the end of the challenge on 11th June.

The campaign kicks off on 11th March 2014 with a launch party at the Sturgess Motor Group Jaguar Land Rover dealership on Narborough Road, Leicester.

Chris Sturgess, the director of Sturgess Motor Group, said: “It is a pleasure to support the LOROS Accumulator Challenge Launch Event again this year at our Jaguar Land Rover dealership. We enjoy hosting events like this and what better place to kick-start this great initiative. I know it brings an enormous amount of pride to those people who get involved and we are all looking forward to seeing the results at its conclusion. The LOROS team should be congratulated for all their hard work on continually raising funds for this very worthwhile cause.”

Each year LOROS has to raise a minimum of £4.5 million to continue providing its specialist care to the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. It is a reason why LOROS depends on local organisations and people like the Accumulator Challenge participants. Their support really does make a difference to local people with terminal illnesses and their families.
