Local celebrities have shown their support for a LOROS fundraising campaign by posing in a pair of specially branded pants.
Hollyoaks star Charlie Clapham, former cricketer Paul Nixon, Leicester Tigers legend George Chuter and boxer Rendall Munroe are among those who have stripped down to their underpants for the Hospice’s Undie-dogs Campaign.
Inspired by former Foxes player Gary Lineker and his famous Match of the Day ‘pant promise’, the campaign was launched earlier this year, encouraging celebrities and individuals to pose in their pants for LOROS while raising money too.
With the campaign due to come to an end later this week, the rest of the stars are looking for one final fundraising push to help meet the targets they set out to achieve when they signed up, so they have all pulled up a pair of LOROS branded underwear and sent in their snaps.
Charlie Clapham, who is best known for playing Freddie Roscoe in the Channel 4 soap, said: “As soon as I heard about the Undie-dogs campaign, I knew I wanted to be involved.
“From the name of the campaign to the cause itself, I was 100% on board.
“As a LOROS Patron I will always do as much as I can to support the Hospice, especially if it involves having a bit of fun.
“Hopefully the latest pictures of me and the rest of the Undie-dogs squad will encourage the people of Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland and beyond to donate and help raise even more money for this simply magical organisation. A big thank you to everyone who has already supported the campaign.”
Mark Plumb, a staff member at photocopier dealers CSL, the campaign’s media sponsor, and Tyler Bernardini, the 6'6" guard for the Leicester Riders basketball team, have also backed the campaign by striking a pant pose for LOROS.
The specially made briefs were created and donated by Loughborough based company, Shreddies, for the celebrities to pose in.
Snooker player Willie Thorne, former Leicester City defender Matt Elliott and local tattoo artist Graham Messenger are the final three participants, set to pose in their pants for charity.
LOROS Fundraiser Dave Nicklin said “Old or young, in shape or not, our Undie-dogs have been such good sports and didn’t take much persuading to get involved in the campaign at all.
“We hope that these recent pant shots will help give the campaign one final push to raise just that little bit more money for LOROS.”
