National Grid friends raise money for sadly missed Hayley

National Grid colleagues of Hayley Smith have vowed to spend the year fundraising to remember the devoted young mother of one, who died recently.

They will raise funds for LOROS, who cared for Hayley and supported her family. She was a keen fundraiser for LOROS and other charities.

Hayley’s work colleagues in Data Assurance at National Grid Gas Distribution started their dash-for-cash with a quiz night, silent auction, and a raffle at The Meeting Centre, Hinckley.

There was also a photo booth where the LOROS mascot Lionel the Lion took pride of place, and posed for pictures with anyone willing to pay £2.00 and the evening concluded with a disco and karaoke until midnight.

They raised an amazing £2,500, which will be added to their Accumulator Challenge.

Leanne Thomasson, an organiser in the Data Assurance Team, said: “Hayley was a big character and a wonderful, caring and giving person; her loss is deeply felt.

"She is sorely missed by all and this was a difficult evening, tinged with much sadness, but we were determined to enjoy ourselves in her memory, and to raise money for LOROS – a charity that Hayley supported.”

Data Assurance plans to run more charity events over the coming year to help LOROS and we are looking forward to see what they get up to.
