A humungous shout out for our team of avid volunteers who have laced up their walking boots and are tackling the 96 miles of the West Highland Way to raise vital funds for the Hospice.

Setting out by bus on Saturday 22nd April the team arrived at Balmaha and enjoyed an evening walk along Loch Lomond before an early night in preparation for their arduous 7 day trek from Milngavie to Fort William.  Their first three nights are in spent in self catering bunk house in Balmaha, the following three in a youth hostel in Crianlarich and the final 3 nights in a hotel in Fort William.  Hopefully, weather permitting, those who wish to will have the opportunity to trek up Ben Nevis on thie final day.

The team members, Bernadette Fenn, Jane Woolmer, Panny Mattock, Janet Grubb, Colin Rimmer, Ken Piggin, Adrian Walker, Tony McLeavy and their bus driver, Dave Gubb, are all in high spirits and doing well.

Tony McLeavy said today (Thursday): "We have now completed 5 days walking and have been blessed with good weather so far. That said, we have also ticked the box for walking in a snow storm all be it for just a few minutes!"

Bernadette Fenn added: "we  climbed up the Devil's Staircase today (Friday)! The views from the top almost made me cry.

"I am having the most amazing time with fantastic help and support from Adrian, Tony, Dave and my fellow walkers. Another truly fantastic day."

Yeah - They've done it!

We are delighted to say that the team have completed their challenge and rasied thousands of pounds doing so - what a wonderful achievement for the team and for LOROS - thank you all so very much.

Here's a few quotes from the team

Penny Mattock: "Thanks to Adrian and Tony who helped us to get there"

Bernadette Fen: "I totally agreed with Penny - I've had an absolutely fantastic time and wouldn't have wanted to miss it for the world; each day just got better."

Jane Woolmer "Great time, thanks for the week."

Colin Walker "Had a fantastic week with a great crowd of walkers."

Adrian added: "You've done it - well done team LOROS - you were all brilliant!!"

A relaxed evening, with a great meal and a session on otter watch and what are they going to do to relax before heading home - Yep, climb Ben Nevis of course!
