A recent 'Night at the Races' has raised an amazing  £2,200 for local charity, LOROS.

The event, held in memory of Sharon Kenney who died at the Hospice at the end of March, was organised by Huey Caratella and Sharon's husband Stuart (who also recently completed the Leicester to Skegness chart cycle ride)

As well as the races there was a silent auction with plenty of items up for bidding and buying and a raffle also boosted the funds.

Huey said: "More than 150 people attended the event and helped make the fundraiser so successful.

"A big thank-you to Leicester Sports Centre for the use of the venue at no cost and their continuing support.

"We are definitely aiming to make this an annual event."

Debbie Dickman, Fundraising Co-ordinator at LOROS added: "We are delighted that this event was such a wonderful success.

"On behalf of LOROS, I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped to raise funds for us. Their support will help us to continue providing the very best care and support for adults in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland with terminally ill adult patients, their family and carers."
