Gift aid awareness

Last week, LOROS took part in the national Gift Aid Awareness Day on Thursday 5th October. In the last financial year, our community came together to raise an impressive £420,000 in charitable income, with £160,000 coming from Gift Aid donations and an additional £260,000 from Retail Gift Aid donations.

The simple act of registering for Gift Aid on donations can significantly boost funding for our care services as for every pound donated, we can reclaim an additional 25p from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). However, many of our donors and supporters are not aware of how much and how big of an impact Gift Aid actually makes. We felt it important to shout about Gift Aid in as many ways as possible.

Firstly, we created a display in the hospice social area. This was created so that any staff, volunteers, patients and visitors to the hospice could engage with the day.

We created various social media posts to engage our online supporters. We also sent out various different emails to our supporters to both raise awareness and thank them for gift aiding their donations to us.

Finally, 3 of our shops had dedicated shop fronts and displays to celebrate the day and raise awareness of Gift Aid to our retail customers.

Thank you to everyone who supported in making this happen!
