We love it when people we know win! So many colleagues support the Hospice through the LOROS Lottery, so it’s amazing when we recognise a name, and then get to give them the exciting news!
You may recognise Jane Howitt from our Uppingham shop. She was a manager there for around 7 years, but retired in May to enjoy her life in Norfolk. She won the £2,000 top prize back in August and was DELIGHTED to hear the news! 🤩 She said: “Having had cancer myself, supporting LOROS is now even more poignant. I’ll continue to support this wonderful charity, even though I now live away.”
Everybody knows Richard, Facilities and Operations Manager. He didn’t win the jackpot, but he did win. We were very excited to knock on his office door with a winning cheque earlier this year. Richard said: “I was inspired by my Mum initially to play the LOROS Lottery, as she’d played since the Lottery began, I’ve now been playing for around 2 years. I was thrilled to hear I’d won £150.” He kindly donated some of it back to LOROS, and treated himself too.
Another familiar face is Margaret, Lymphoedema Services Manager. We presented Margaret’s £2,000 cheque to her in September 2021, and she was ecstatic!
Margaret has played a pivotal role in Lymphoedema services and development for over 2 decades. She told us: “When I heard that I’d won, it reminded me that I played the LOROS Lottery. It’s such a simple way to support the Hospice on a regular basis, I don’t even think about it. I’ve been playing for many years, and will continue to do so, because I see the difference that my support makes to the people that I care for every day.”
