International Lottery Day celebrations

You may have noticed some hustle and bustle at the Hospice on Wednesday 23rd August. Well that’s because we were celebrating International Lottery Day, with some of our lottery winners and lottery volunteers.

We opened our beautiful gardens to around 35 guests, so they could see for themselves where their £1 goes, and what a difference it makes. Many of our guests have been supporting us for years, but have never been to the Hospice. It was lovely to be able to share with them some LOROS history during our guided tour, and take a closer look at complementary therapy, chaplaincy and volunteering.

The sun was shining and the sky was blue, which meant we could enjoy Melina’s delicious scones on the patio, and have some lovely conversations.

Although this wasn’t a fundraising event, we still managed to raise around £1,000, from the sale of the ‘always remembered’ butterflies, lots of purchases in the Hospice shop, aromatherapy oils, patient arts and crafts, donations and through the Lottery.

Thank you to everybody who played a part in making this day so special for our supporters.
