Sir David & Lady Samworth opened their gardens to LOROS, who held a charity luncheon garden party in a beautiful marquee in the wonderfully landscaped gardens of Markham House, Thorpe Satchville. The event was kindly sponsored by Mattioli Woods, one of the UK’s leading providers of wealth management and employee benefit services.

Over 150 guests including representatives from HSBC, Gateley, Pedigree Filbert, BDO and Integra enjoyed a welcome drink and delicious locally sourced food supplied by caterers Emerson and Wests of Market Harborough. The setting was idyllic, with seasonal hydrangeas and vintage bunting beautifully decorating the fantastic marquee. A Barbershop Chorus welcomed the guests and there was the opportunity to play croquet and lawn boules during the afternoon.

Sir David Samworth welcomed guests to his home and Bob Woods, Chairman of Mattioli Woods spoke about why they chose to support LOROS. The event closed with Jennifer, Lady Gretton LOROS President thanking everyone involved in making the event such a fantastic occasion. The event was compered by LOROS ambassador, Matt Poole of Tiger Events.

Bob Woods, Chairman of Mattioli Woods said “We are delighted to support such a deserving and much needed charity as LOROS’. The garden party luncheon on Sunday 29th June was a wonderful initiative and our heartfelt thanks to Sir David Samworth in hosting the event at his beautiful home, a wonderful setting for all the very supportive guests to enjoy. Sadly, most of us have been touched by the personal tragedies which LOROS attends to so compassionately. Cancer and other life threatening conditions are inexorably increasing, and seemingly at younger ages so it is likely that LOROS will need evermore support in the years to come.’

Rachel Hill, LOROS Fundraiser said “What a wonderful occasion. The food, atmosphere and surroundings helped to create perfect setting for the vintage garden party we had envisaged. We were so pleased to have Mattioli Woods on board, they were fantastic to work with and we look forward to working with them again in the near future. We are delighted to have made a profit for LOROS of over £10,000. ”
