A Loughborough woman is planning a 60th birthday trip to Australia after winning the top prize in the 2014 LOROS Spring Raffle.

Judy Wortley says she tried hard not to shout out loud and skip down the aisles when she received the call from LOROS informing her of the £10,000 win while out shopping.

Judy, her two daughters and three sons, all support the hospice as a result of Judy’s husband, mum and mother-in-law all receiving care there.

Following the death of her husband Rob in October 2011, they ran their own raffle raising £538 in his memory.

Judy said: “I like to help LOROS whenever I can.

“When I received the raffle tickets in the post, I filled them in and sent them back forgetting all about them until the day before the draw. I looked at them and wondered whether to throw them in the bin but thought I’d better save them for one more day just in case never expecting to hear anything more.”
