On Saturday 13th September the Pavilion Leisure Centre in Huncote hosted a family fun day for local residents. The event was organised by Blaby District Council who have selected LOROS as their Charity of the Year.

Taking place from 10am – 4pm the day boasted an array of activities including garden games, sport classes, sumo suits, bungee runs, quad bikes, face painting, bungee trampolines and a whole lot more. There were also craft stalls, refreshments, a cake stall, a beer tent and entertainment on the stage with a Lady Gaga tribute, a cheerleaders show and an “Insanity” workout.

LOROS representatives were also on site to raise awareness about the Hospice and to show people how they can get involved in helping us to help others.

This fabulous event raised nearly £800 for LOROS which is equivalent to the cost of a nurse providing specialist care for our patients for a whole week. This is a great example of what an amazing difference Blaby District Council and the people who attended the fun day made to our patients.

Magdalena Korytkowska, Partnership Development Assistant at LOROS said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to Clare Smith, the Pavilion Duty Manager, for organising such a successful event. It was a wonderful opportunity for LOROS to raise awareness about our services and also to introduce LOROS’ indoor donation station to Blaby district residents.

"An average bag of quality clothes is estimated to be worth £25 to LOROS! Donated clothes and other goods are sold in our shops to help us to raise the £4.5 million needed to provide care to terminally ill patients and their families, free of charge.”
