On Monday 29th September Blaby District Council organised Blaby Bake Off at their offices on Desford Road, Narborough. The cakes resulting from this competition were sold with all proceeds going to LOROS.

The competition was judged by Councillor David Clements, Chairman of the Council, Councillor Marian Broomhead, Vice-Chairman of the Council and Magdalena Korytkowska, Partnership Development Assistant at LOROS.

The winner of the Sweet Treats category was Carole Troake; of the Savoury Snacks category - Zoe Coulson, and last but not least of the Cakes & Bakes category - Jon Owst. Jon received the highest score overall so was crowned the Star Baker.

Magdalena said: “It was a privilege to be one of the judges for the Blaby Bake Off. I was really impressed by the effort Blaby District Council staff showcased. All of the cakes were delicious therefore the choice wasn’t easy. The cakes sale after the competition was very successful and raised more than £300 for LOROS.

"I would like to thank Julia Palmer and Kirsty Wilby for organising this amazing fundraising event. Congratulations to the winners and everyone taking part in the competition – you truly helped us to help others!”

LOROS was kindly chosen by Blaby District Council as their Charity of the Year. We are very grateful to them for all they have already done for our patients and their families and we look forward to being part of their ongoing activities.
