On Thursday, 23rd October, the team from Barclays branch at Belgrave Road, Leicester celebrated Diwali in style. Their clients were welcomed by beautifully dressed staff in traditional sari and suits consultants, who served Indian sweets and chocolates as well as provided them with the financial advice.

Barclays staff ran a raffle in aid of LOROS, which raised a fantastic £1,122.18. The raffle prizes were generously donated by numerous local businesses from the Golden Mile and this included jewellery – also gold, beautiful saris and several restaurants’ vouchers.

Barclays is kindly going to match the amount raised, with an additional £1,000, which means that the Hospice will receive a grand total of £2,122.18 from this wonderful charity event! This could pay for a LOROS nurse providing specialist care to our patients for more than three weeks.

Kasna Kanani from Barclays, said: “It was a really nice day for us all. It was great to raise so much for this important local charity. LOROS is in our hearts and we have already been involved in raising money for them as well as volunteering at the Hospice.”

Bharti Parmar added: “We meet our customers every day so they are like family to us. It made us happy to celebrate Diwali with them. We also are glad that we could link this celebration with making a difference to local people. LOROS is a wonderful charity and we have already started to plan what to do next to support their efforts.”

Magdalena Korytkowska, Fundraising Co-ordinator at LOROS said: “Thank you to Barclays team and their customers for raising vital funds for the Hospice. It was fantastic to be part of their Diwali celebration and we hope to be back with them next year!”
