TV star guest at hospice lunch

Alison, who shot to fame on television's Big Brother, will be at th annual LOROS Ladies Lunch on Wednesday, May 13.

It is hoped that more than 500 women will join the lunch at the King Power Stadium to help raise funds for the hospice which cares for people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

The annual event is hosted by LOROS President Lady Gretton and it is hoped that it will raise more than £12,000.

Wendy Marshall, fundraising co-ordinator at LOROS, said: "We are delighted and honoured to have Alison as our guest speaker this year.

"I am sure that with her bubbly personality and wonderful stories, we shall have a fantastic afternoon."

Alison Hammond is a regular presenter on ITV's This Morning programme and known for her presenting style.

She has also appeared as a panellist on the television show Loose Women and has presented a number of shows including Inside Out, BBC Exchange, and Turn on Terry.

In addition Alison is a regular on reality shows.

She has appeared on I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here where she was a contestant in 2010 and more recently on Strictly Come Dancing.

Her other appearances include tap-dancing with Renee Zellweger, rapping with Will Smith and being serenaded by Hugh Jackman.

Alison is also an actress and has had roles in a variety of television dramas.

These include Doctors, Palace Hill, Chalkface and Boon.

Past speakers at the event have included Julia Bradbury, Clair Lomas, Anne Widdecombe and Dr Hilary Jones.

Money raised from the event will help to support more than 2,500 patients each year.

It costs £7.5 million a year to run the hospice.

LOROS receives a grant of around one-third of the cost from the NHS.

The charity then relies on the support of the local community and businesses to raise £4.5 million annually.

Tickets for the LOROS Ladies' Lunch, which is being sponsored by Next and Buds Floral Designs and Lifestyle in Leicester, cost £40 a person.
