With summer just around the corner there are lots of festivals and events to look forward to. Royal Ascot is one of the most glamorous weeks that sport has to offer and LOROS Hospice are bringing the Ascot experience to Leicester Racecourse. On Thursday 18th June, on the same day as the main event itself, it is officially Ladies Day!

There will be live screening of the races via giant plasma screens, a glass of fizz on arrival and a four course lunch, as well as the chance to bag yourself a few new purchases at a variety of pop-up shops. The event will include live entertainment and a super car display. There will also be a 'best dressed' competition which I have been given the privilege of judging.

I'm really looking forward to getting glammed up on the day and I'm going to be wearing a hat I made myself last year for the Miss England final! We had a challenge to create an outfit suitable for ladies day for the 'eco round' and I had the help of amazingly talented Michelle Foley of http://hairfascinators.net/ in constructing my own head piece from scratch using materials from one of my grandmother's Saris. I'm really proud of it; I just need a new dress to go with it now!

This is one of many events LOROS are organising this year to celebrate their 30th anniversary of providing care in the community. Each year, LOROS Hospice cares for 2,500 terminally ill people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, as well as supporting their families. Although all of their care is free to the patients and their families, it costs the Hospice £4.5 million every single year to look after those people.
