Two best friends put on a glamorous burlesque show to raise money for charity.

Jo Ward and Hayley Alesbrooke-Sewel, from Hinckley, decided to put on their own event and merged to form TC Burlesque.

The idea came after pair, who share a loved of all things burlesque and vintage, spent years travelling around the country to watch performances. Alt textThe event, held at Ellen Louisa’s Vintage Teas in Burbage, took place in December and was called Tinsel and Tease.

A total of 45 people watched as Jo took to the stage as alter-ego Miss Cherry Blossom to compere the evening and Hayley, also known as Sinn Dee, performed along with a group of other ladies from Barwell and Leicester.

They managed to raise a total of £556 for LOROS and have now presented the cheque to the charity.

Jo said: “We picked the charity because they do such amazing work.

“My auntie spent time there at the end of her life and it’s a good local charity.

“Since we did the event we went over to give them the cheque and learnt about all the things they do and it spurred us on to do more events.

“The next ones will be bigger and better.

“It’s a great night out for couples or with a group of girls.

“It’s a really fun night and so empowering for the women taking part. They are all shapes and sizes. It will be a fab event.”

The burlesque showcases will take place during the summer and autumn.

On Saturday June 27 Summer Tease will take place at Bulkington War Memorial Club.

Majorie Hawkins will compere the evening, and there will also be a vintage singer, two headline dancers and amateur ladies strutting their stuff.

Tickets will cost £10, which will include a sweet treat and fizz, and are available from the club. All proceeds will be donated to LOROS.

The second event, Blood and Boas, will take place on Saturday October 24 at The Queens Hall in Nuneaton. Tickets will cost £10.
