Mad Hatters Tea Party

Don’t be late for this very important date, as LOROS Hospice has organised a Mad Hatters Tea Party to help celebrate their 30th birthday.

On Sunday 6th September, get ready for a family fun day bursting with live entertainment, face painting and games, at Beacon Hill.

At the heart of Charnwood Forest, inside a giant Alice in Wonderland themed marquee, the event will be attended by various characters from the Disney film and will also include a picnic style lunch for all visitors to enjoy.

LOROS Events Lead Laura Betts said: “It’s going to be a fantastic day.

“We want everyone of all ages to get themselves to Beacon Hill and join in the fun to raise money for LOROS.

“This is a huge year for us, as the Hospice is celebrating having provided care for more than 300,000 local people over the last 30 years.”

And of course there will be a croquet court on site, complete with flamingo mallets, just like the film itself, which have been created by a local carpenter and painted by employees from the Disney Store especially for the occasion.

Accompanying the picnic, there will be a constant supply of tea in vintage-style teacups, which have all been collected through donations coming into our LOROS shops around the city and county.

“It’s great that everyone has got involved with the event,” added Laura.

“From businesses and organisations, to LOROS volunteers, it seems that everyone wants to help out, it’s brilliant.”

This is just one of many events organised by the Hospice to help celebrate 30 years of LOROS.

Tickets cost £30 for adults, £10 for children aged five to 16 and under-fives are free, if bought before 1st September.

To help promote the event, LOROS Hospice is launching a ‘self-tea’ competition.

To win a family ticket to the event (two adults and two under 16), all you have to do is take a selfie of you and your cup of tea, then either Tweet it to: @LOROSHospice, post it on the LOROS Facebook page, or tag LOROS on Instagram, using the hashtag #LOROSteaparty.

The competition will run from this Friday (3rd July 3) for two weeks, with 17th July being your last chance to send your ‘self-tea’ in.

The winner will be announced at the end of July, so get snapping and start sending in your ‘self-teas’.
