From Rendall Munroe's 30 boxing spars for LOROS, to Palmers Garden Centre, in Enderby, organising a Paloma Faith tribute night, LOROS' 30th birthday month has been bursting with fun and exciting fund-raising events.
When LOROS announced it wanted to get as many people in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to get involved in it's 30 for 30 campaign, it found organisations, individuals and businesses from the city and county all jumped to accept the challenge. And thanks to their support, LOROS has managed to raise more than £7,000 already, which is enough to cover the care of an inpatient for a 12-day stay.
LOROS chief executive John knight said: "The response we have had from people wanting to help us celebrate turning 30 this September has been overwhelming.
"Our 30 for 30 campaign has been a great success; not only have we raised a lot of money, but we have also raised a huge amount of awareness about LOROS and the services we offer.
"The coverage in the Leicester Mercury has been wonderful and we would like to thank them and everyone else who has helped us celebrate such a milestone by supporting our campaign over the past month."
Throughout the month, the Children and Family Service's team at Leicester County Council have been organising events for LOROS, raising more than £1,000.
Other organisations including Leicester City Football Club and Hinckley-based Crane Electronics Ltd have also got behind the campaign, with Fingerprints Delicafé, in Clarendon Park, Leicester, giving 30 per cent of their takings from drinks sales today, to LOROS.
LOROS staff did their bit to help celebrate, with the senior management team taking part in a static triathlon, while some employees had a go at pole dancing to raise money, with others collecting money on a special 30 for 30 bar crawl on Saturday.
Patients, families, carers and friends who have experienced LOROS have also been involved, with dozens of people sharing their stories to help raise awareness, as well as some of the people who have had such an influence at the hospice in the past 30 years.
There are still plenty more fund-raising opportunities coming up.
The next major event will be Frocktober, a month of "frocktail" parties and frock-swap events all in aid of Loros, including the hospice's own Frock and Fizz event on October 10.
With Hospice Care Week coming up next week – a national campaign – this is your excuse to dust of those yellow clothes and wear yellow for LOROS on Friday, October 9.
