A burst of colour is set to decorate the streets of Hinckley next week as the LOROS Colourfun mile returns for a third year.

Paint powder cannons will shower runners in a plethora of colours as they jog, skip, walk or dance through the town.

This year’s race on June 8 starts on Station Road at 7pm.

When people sign up to the event they will receive a free white T-shirt and a packet of multi-coloured powder, but wacky fancy dress costumes are also encouraged.

T-shirts can be collected on the day from Argents Mead bandstand from 5pm.

The easy-clean paint is made from natural corn starch with biodegradable, non-hazardous and non-toxic food dyes.

Spectators can also get involved by throwing coloured powder over friends and family as they run by designated zones.

LOROS Fundraising Co-ordinator Laura Fitzsawyer, who is organising the event, said: “Last year we had more than 1,000 people join us at the event, which raised more than £10,000 for the Hospice.

“The event really is fun for all ages, with entertainment at the start and finish line and music to lead you along the way.

“We would love to see you in fancy dress too and don’t be shy with your costume, the crazier and brighter the better.

“We promise that this will be the messiest fun you’ve ever had.”

Tickets cost £15 for adults and £12 for children, with all proceeds being donated to the Leicestershire hospice.

The easiest way to get the paint off is while it is still fresh and dry - shake, wiggle, jump up and down. Then use a soft brush followed by soap and water to wash off any remaining colour.

A team of cleaners will spruce up the streets after the event to ensure all paint is removed.
