Complete with big hats, beautiful dresses and the highest of heels, race goers refused to let the rain dampen their spirits at this year’s Royal Ascot Ladies Day experience for LOROS.

The event, which took place once again at Leicester Racecourse on Thursday, is hoping to have made more than £6,000 for the Groby Road Hospice.

150 people turned out in style to watch Royal Ascot live on big screens from the racecourse, while enjoying a glass of Pimms and some fine dining.

Event Lead, Laura Betts, who organised the event, said: “It was a fantastic day. Everyone made a huge effort with their outfits, they all looked gorgeous.

“Once again, thank you to our Charity of the Year partners, Leicester Racecourse, for allowing us to put on such a successful event for another year running.

“And of course, thank you to everyone who came along, as well as those who helped ensure the day was so special, including Motion 8, NEXT, Co-op Funeral Care and Francis Wines.”

Throughout the day there were awards for ‘best dressed male’, ‘best dressed female’, ‘best hat’ and ‘most thrifty outfit’, giving visitors the chance to win a special prize for their efforts.

Leicester Racecourse director Rob Bracken said: “It was a pleasure to support LOROS by hosting their Ladies Ascot Day Experience here at sunny Leicester Racecourse for a second year running.

“Everyone entered into the racing spirit with our Pavilion looking fabulous and the ladies dressed to the nines, looking stunning.

“We look forward to working with LOROS throughout the year as they join us again on our Family Fun Day on 7th August with their ‘Slip 'n' Slide’ fundraiser.

“Well done Team LOROS.”
