The final of the LOROS Winter bridge league was recently held at the Hospice. Overseen by Chris and Vonnie Hilton, the original instigators of the tournament back in 2003, the evening was a great success and enjoyed by all who attended.

Many congratulations to the winners, Jim and Sue Howard, and the runners up, Janet Scarratt and Angela Hazelton.

Charles and Maggie Parker, organisers of the event, said: "Thank you to everyone who played in the LOROS Winter bridge league last year and to all those who have made generous donations. We are very pleased to report that together we have raised over £5,200 for LOROS, with 250 people playing in 25 groups."

Adrian Walker, Interim Fundraising Manager at LOROS, added: "The Winter bridge league have been fundraising for the Hospice for 13 years now and their continued support is very much appreciated.

"The money they donated this year could pay for the cost of one of our specialist nurses for more than seven weeks, so really does make a difference to us.

"A huge thank you to all those involved; I look forward to seeing you all again during the next competition."
