LOROS is encouraging families to take a Walk on the Wildside this summer while raising money for the local hospice.

On Sunday, September 25, join walkers of all ages and fitness levels for the charity’s annual event, through Charnwood Forest and Bradgate Park.

The ever-popular event will guide walkers through the beautiful Bradgate Park and Swithland Wood, with an extra special ‘A Walk in Wonderland’ route, designed for children, pushchair and wheelchair users.

Laura Fitzsawyer, LOROS fund-raising co-ordinator, said: “Our Walk on the Wildside event is one of the most popular in our fund-raising diary and great fun for all of the family including dogs.

“The event offers something different for all capabilities to suit everyone, even if you’re not an avid walker.

“Our brand new Walk in Wonderland will give children, pushchair and wheelchair users the chance to explore the enchanting forest, while learning along the way.”

In keeping with the Alice in Wonderland theme, those taking part in the ‘A Walk in Wonderland’ will be greeted by the Mad Hatter as they complete the route.

“Of course this year, we’re also giving youngsters the chance to meet some friendly alpacas too, which is all included in the sign-up price,” said Laura.

“Last year the event raised a fantastic £12,000 for the hospice, which can make a huge difference to the care and support we can provide to patients and their families.

“We’re really hoping for the same turnout this year and so, are looking forward to welcoming families of all ages, as well as their furry friends, to this beautiful walk to complete their summer.

“Adult entry price is just £5, which could pay for one of our patient’s meals for a day.”
