A gig held at LOROS as part of this year’s Leicester Comedy Festival has raised more than £1,000 for the Hospice.

Following on such a successful ‘Laughter At LOROS’ last year, the Hospice once again held an evening of comedy, which proved to be even more popular.

Taking place on Friday 17th February, the show, which was headlined by former English Comedian of the Year, Jack Campbell, raised £1,100.

LOROS Fundraising Co-ordinator Dave Nicklin said: “We were so pleased to raise so much at this year’s show.

“With the Leicester Comedy Festival only getting bigger, we’re very grateful that comedy fans wanted to support a local charity and see our show.”

Compering the show was Leicester lad and new dad, Phil Drew, with Birmingham-based stand up, Thomas Rackham and Andrea Hubert, winner of the Best Debut Show Award at the What’s On London Comedy Awards 2015, also performing.

“It’s also great to be able to show people who might not otherwise have come into the Hospice, that LOROS is a warm and friendly place to visit and that laughter is an important part of that,” Dave added.

This is not the only funny fundraiser LOROS is planning for this year’s comedy festival because tomorrow (25th February), the Hospice will be taking their show to Melton Mowbray.

Taking place at Melton Theatre, ‘Laughing With LOROS’ will feature some of the highlights of the Leicester Comedy Festival, including novelist, comedian and TV regular, Mark Watson, as well as London-based comic Archie Maddocks, Mock the Week regular Ellie Taylor and will be hosted by Melton Mowbray-born comedian, Jon Pearson.

Dave Nicklin said: “With our Hospice shows having received such positive response we wanted to go even bigger during this year’s comedy festival.

“Melton Theatre is an amazing venue for stand-up comedy and we’re very proud and excited to have had such great comedians at all of our comedy shows.”

Tickets are still available for the show tomorrow night’s show. Visit loros.co.uk/laughing for more information, or call the Melton Theatre box office on 01664 851 111, or buy your tickets on the door.
