A terminally ill grandmother who is celebrating her 80th this month has said meeting the Full Monty cast from De Montfort Hall was a ‘real birthday treat’.

LOROS day therapy patient Isabel Robinson, who is battling cancer, was lucky enough to meet soap star’s Chris Fountain and Anthony Lewis, who visited the Hospice, when they were in Leicester as part of their nationwide tour.

Chris, who is best known for his time in Coronation Street and Hollyoaks and Anthony, who played Marc Reynolds in Emmerdale, were joined by actor Andrew Dunn, otherwise known as Tony in BBC sitcom, Dinnerladies.

“It was a wonderful surprise,” said Isabel, of Hinckley, who will be celebrating her 80th birthday on 21st March.

“Well, what can I say, they were all very handsome. It was a real birthday treat and definitely one to remember.”

The cast sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to Isabel, before the grandmother-of-eight enjoyed a slice of cake, a glass of wine to celebrate and a photo with the crew.

Half-a-dozen members of the cast visited the Hospice altogether, meeting patients, their families, staff and volunteers, both in day therapy and on the ward.

Speaking about his time at the Hospice, Anthony said: “It was an absolute pleasure to visit LOROS last week and I was incredibly humbled by the fantastic welcome we received.

“It is very easy to make the presumption that it would be a very sad and negative environment, for obvious reasons, however, it was an incredibly positive place and the work done to make that happen is quite amazing.

“Everybody, from the receptionists and the nurses, to the admin department and fundraising staff all do an incredible job and I am so pleased I got to see it.

“I congratulate LOROS on what they do and long may it continue.”

The Full Monty, which also stars soap star Gary Lucy was showing at De Montfort Hall up until last Saturday, before the tour headed to Bradford.
