This year’s LOROS Open Day promises to offer something for all the family, complete with a petting zoo, live music, plus food and craft stalls, as the Hospice once again opens its doors to the public.

The free event which is called ‘The Big Day Out at LOROS’, is on Saturday 14th October, completes this year’s national awareness raising campaign, Hospice Care Week.

There will also be beauty and complementary therapies on offer, a café, a pop-up bar, children’s activities, a tombola and raffle, with plenty of amazing prizes on offer. Local suppliers will also be hosting their own stalls at the event, with the likes of local preserve company Cherry Tree Leicester, Brockleyby’s Pies and Cherizena Coffee among those attending on the day.

LOROS CEO John Knight said: “Last year we were overwhelmed with the amount of people who came to our open day and this year, we’re hoping it will be even bigger.”

Last year’s open day broke personal records for LOROS, with more than 800 people visiting the Hospice and raising £5,000.

“This is a real opportunity for people to come and support LOROS and enjoy a day out with the whole family, while hearing more about the services here at the Hospice,” added John. Visitors will also be able to get a first look inside the Hospice’s brand new Professional Development Centre, which has been being built for the past year.

John said: “The last year has been very exciting for the Hospice with our site development taking place.

“At the start of Hospice Care Week, we will be officially opening the Professional Development Centre, a year to the day since we held our turf cutting ceremony.

“The Open Day will be a great opportunity for members of the public who have followed the build to come and see our outstanding new building and explore what it has to offer.

“So make sure you get Saturday 14th October in your diaries because this event is not one to be missed.”

The event is taking place at the Hospice, in Groby Road and will be starting at 10am and finishing at 4pm.
