More than 250 people kicked off their festive season at the LOROS Ball, raising more than £30,000 for the Hospice.

The magical evening, which took place on Saturday 18th November at Leicester’s Marriott Hotel, had a ‘Midwinter’s Night’ theme and was hosted by BBC newsreader and LOROS Patron Anne Davies.

The room was decked out with a giant snow globe and glittery decorations, marking the start of the Christmas countdown for many. Alt textLOROS Fundraising manager Laura Betts said: “The LOROS Ball is the social highlight of the year.

“It’s a chance for our supporters to get dressed up and have a fabulous evening, while really making a difference.

“A huge thank you to all of our supporters who gave so generously and helped us raise more than £30,000 for LOROS.”

Guests were welcomed with a festive-themed snowflake fizz arrival drink, which had a candy floss topping, before enjoying a three-course meal.

An auction took place, which included the likes of rugby tickets to Twickenham, a table at the Hospice’s Ladies Lunch and the chance to represent LOROS as Lionel the Lion.

Alt textLOROS patient David Needham, who is battling Motor Neurone Disease and recently successfully completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, completed the evening by sharing his story.

“Thanks to Next for supporting the event, the volunteers who gave up their time, including the hairdressers, make-up artists, wine hosts, our table waitresses, plus those who created our beautiful table centrepieces and stage displays,” added Laura.

“The event itself was fantastic, a great night for a brilliant cause.
